Project Life Week One

PLife week 1 so loving this process this year! I feel so ready with journaling cards either bought or downloaded and printed even ones I made myself! No pressure on how many pictures I take in a week and love to save any goodies from the week. I tried 2 t=years back with project 365 but it was too overwhelming of an idea. Finally decided to blog it so going through Flickr to do it quicker but may now do week by week on my blog after this.

The journaling states how we watched our Santa videos today and i got to capture the true unstaged emotion here..but very soon after things were not pretty.Santa didn't get thing just right and some brothers were saying others should have been on the naughty list..you know how it goes, life just doesn't go as planned but for that fleeting moment all is wonderful in the world and it was captured so i will choose to remember it that way!

This guy was from a card and I knew i loved him and would find a place for him! stuck him on a tag I ran thru an embossing folder and distressed up with who other than Tim!

12 Days of Books...They have 12 Christmas books, someday i hope to make it 25 but i am okay with just 12 that works for us right now. I plan to scan the cover of the Littlest Christmas tree and a page from it ( don't think I didn't think to just rip it right out and go buy a new one!!) I really loved it!

Nothing spectacular today as Mommy was not feeling well (that can't happen in December!!) but just love that Tyler has to fix everything around the house. He is so his father..book smarts not his thing but give that kid a screwdriver and something to fix and he is good to go!! I need him around to figure out how to turn things on around the house since hubby has everything hooked to some remote LOL even our tree has a dimmer on it!! Have a great Day 13 we start our 12 days of books!

Day 10 Justin's sleepover

Busy fun weekend was had! Justin had his bday sleepover and had a great quiet time (without his 2 brothers to bother him) Then on Sunday we took them to Westbury
Gardens for a members

party which was really nice. Food and drink..Santa..arts and crafts, music, and pretty decorated rooms all over the house and the best part was it was free (albeit yes I paid for a membership LOL). Hope you are all having a wonderful December!

Had some fun today playing with cam and tripod..Will use these pics for Dec daily filler when nothing was going on. Always need one or two of those! Love the first pic!!and this last one was when I hit the tripod and i love it but could not get it again!! Settings were ISO 200, F16, Shutter speed 15 sec, room almost pitch black.

I will be adding some elements to make this a hybrid page. For one thing I am adding sticker letters that say "So much for calm but...." because this is bright to me since i now see some light at the end of the tunnel. We have been working on this house since we bought it 13 years ago and it would be great to have it finished! We seem to finally have a goal! Today we took out our small useless mudroom and we are going to put in a big functioning one!! This will also be part of a double layout that will finish next week when the room is up.

I spent time today making what is probably my most fave gift ever! Love these ornaments :) My son later was trying to finish up his perler bead nativity set (been doing it for 3 years!! LOL) there will be a future pic of that when finished. Pictures of the ornaments are in previous post :) Have a happy day 9!

These just might be my most fav gift i ever made! And my hubby was beyond happy that i used the glass balls i bought like 3 years ago (maybe 4) but i knew I had them for a reason!Got messy with book text and modge podge. Inked with Tim Holtz Christmas colors and stamped on two of them lightly. Put some glitter on which I ended up loving!! Then i didnt have the right stamps but i went with Tims embossing folder and OMG LOVE!!!!

On Saturday and Monday this week I had the honor of doing 2 photo shoots that touched my heart. While doing December Daily I always try to remember to be grateful and enjoy the whole month with my kids so that Christmas isn't just about presents. This is what I love about Dec Daily it's not just scrapbooking it's so much more if you let it be. The young boy is Luke a 12 year old twin and he is fighting for his life with neuroblastoma. And Danny is 28 and has a severe brain injury from a motorcycle accident in 2007. I cannot begin to imagine what these families go through daily but i hope I made a small difference in giving them these memories to hold on to. On the back of the pictures is just a little story about each of these wonderful people who have made me a better person. Click picture or link to enlarge.

Yes I know I have skipped a day but waiting on picture from Tyler's sleepover and Grammy & Boppa's. So loved the Dicken's Festival that it was a must to go digi and have a bunch of pics! I added some tradional scrap stuff and ticket from the day so I have a hybrid page for today. So glad we went, it lived up to my expectations and then some.It's in Port Jefferson if you live nearby GO!

One of our 3 boys spent the night and grandparents house and they took him to a small train museum. This kid is all about trains during the holiday season! He even put up our rather large train set under the tree when daddy fell asleep and Tyler became impatient LOL. And at night we got adult night at our long time friends Tom&Cathy's Christmas party. So blessed to have great friends and family.

These are my new favorite thing I made this year to go along with my December Daily. These are courtesy of Donna Downey who sells the kit and you do the stamping and the sewing. I got the idea of doing this through Ali Edwards who does a few different advent ideas. I love making the whole holiday season truly mean something more than just a day of gifts. I will have the kids pick out one of them a day and do that action, such as Do something nice for someone today. Make someone laugh. Write someone special a letter and send it to them. This 7Gypsies printers tray as been sitting for bout a year just waiting to be used! It came black but i wanted to distress it a bit with Tim Holtz distress stains ( I have a love affair with his products) Made the little flowers with Tims die cut and rock candy. And the paper was from the Simple stories I used to do December Daily~ that has gotten some mileage!! If i tell you those presents are from paper bliss from what 8 years ago??? WOW hitting the stash!! Happy to look at this on the wall everyday :)

I had already posted the altered book but uploading from flickr it just made it easier to do thewhole album at once. I am so addicted to how easy flickr is for sharing why wasn't i doing this before!!
The canvas is done with glass bead gel (the red) and it is awesome stuff!!

So much goodness :)

So I went to the Goodwill store the other day with Mixed media in mind and I came out with some fun stuff..plan to go back atleast once a month! Found this book for $2.99 and knew i was going to do something similar to what I saw on Pinterest (love). I just laid down gel medium as I rolled up the book pages and cut accordingly to make the heart. Then went in to paint and stamp and rub ons.It was so much fun to make, I may add a few more goodies but love the way it is now too!

So I would swear finding Christy Tomlinson has been the best thing that has happened to me as an "artist". I have loved taking her She Art online mixed media classes, RUN don't walk!! They are also so affordable, and ENTERTAINING because she is so adorable! These are my first 3 girls one i gave as a gift and then other 2 I just won't be able to part with nor do i need to but i plan to make many more as gifts and hope to sell some if the demand is there! Kinda luv the way this is coming out, but I am not done yet have some more to fill in me thinks! Had no clue coming into today what I would do but this is what unfolded..

The enjoy the journey was done with beeswax. The create letters were dipped into beeswax to give them texture. They were just on paper printed out from a digi download.

this is on the other side of the inserted tag in the middle, luv the reveal!

I still have to figure out what goes here suggestions??

Did you ever just have one of those days that you just feel happy and fortunate for the things that are happening in your life and realize that you really do have great friends and family in your life. I am happy to be taking in that moment to just really appreciate them. Planning my 40th party and having things go so smoothly and getting excited about a surprise cake that has me grinning ear to ear today is just making feel fortunate today. Seeing good friends last night and just laughing with them is really priceless. I hope some of my friends read this and know that they are one of the special people I am talking about. So looking forward to next Sat and looking forward to my forties!! (not till Nov.) but the early party is getting the festivities started!!!

Who knew that this would be so much fun! And easy! My 40th birthday is approaching and i am having an all day scrapbooking party with some of my besties :) I wanted to give them a great favor that had to do with creating so me & my Jenny got together for the day and did these.

The smaller words were harder to do so we mostly stuck with the bigger letters but thanks to jenn's patience we have 3 of these! I need to find some more letters pronto!
I can't wait to make these for all my sons teachers, aides etc. Just think plates, dishes, mugs woo hoo!!!!

DRIVE to your craft store and get some glass etching cream it takes literally 30 seconds to work!!!

This really came out better than i expected! (Don't u just love when that happens??) I just loved this quote that one of my friends had posted on facebook and i knew i would use so i saved it in my idea book. I used my watercolor crayons since duh the quote is about crayons and i wanted to use them since DD used her new ones i wanted to make sure i didn't need to purchase those! LOL

They did the job just fine they are from stampin up!

These two sets I knew I would love and they so came in handy when the fountain
pen didn't give me the effect I wanted. I like my journaling handwriting but this is different I usually don't use my writing when doing a whole quote but I am stepping out of my "crayon box"!!

I just love this idea..it's not reinventing the wheel or anything but its just a way to really appreciate the people who come to my kids party and give such great gifts. 2 people already thanked me personally for their picture so that made it all worthwhile :). I try to remember to get pic of every kid but if not i get a group shot and send that.

I have been away from any internet for 8 days...and survived LOL! I am waiting for our new flight right now..we let ourselves get bumped and got a first class flight home from Orlando and $400 per person airline voucher!! woo hoo I will be back in action and following back and creating in no time !!!!

So a few things went wrong with my first attempt at a fabric flower. First was, I thought I cut a 2" circle ( I know 4" looks nothing like 2 but..) so it was a bit big but thats okay. I also did not use quick dry glue as Donna Downey uses in her tutorial so it wanted to unspun (new word) itself. Hot glue did the trick.

I do like the seed bead center (I have a lot of these!)

Helmar glue has already been shipped to my house
thank god so when i return from vaca I can make more. I also realized its twisted to much not a nice overlay as the Donna Downey shows, but with practice i will get there! I will do a muslin one next. I'm learning...

My Circle Journal ~2005
As I look back this doesn't look so bad for 2005! I was only 34 imagine that i will 40 in November. I don't look at this enough, we moved some furniture around and emptied out tv cabinet it was in. This is when circle journals were all the rage!

This was probably my favorite thing I did I thought I was so cool LOL

I so would have done a better profile shot...the best i had was in my P.J's really?? LOL

Just realized the D was missing, probably around its travels of the U.S.

It could be fun to do another one...someday maybe I will just pick up a swap first!

To the average eye mom's eye and my kids who love them eye these look like empty lunchable trays...
but it an effort to get greener (I admit to barely being a light shade of green) you can reuse them ..

as paint trays!!! Paint trays tend to get messy if you don't clean them quick enough so what a great idea right?? My kids have been definitely donating to the paint tray collection lately.

I find myself enjoying doing the single picture layouts that i never thought i would do since i have 3 boys (2 featured here). I enjoy not having to do a "theme" i like using just stuff from wherever. I love bringing in any light colors something again i would have never done last year but i am noticing i do alot lately. I was even told at a crop i inspired someone not to be afraid of the "girl color palette" with boys. i just know what i like and other than me i don't scrap girls so sorry boys get in touch with your feminine side!! LOL

Have a had a great long weekend still enjoying some last minute fun. Massachusetts on the lake was such a great experience! Watching my kids just enjoy nature was priceless! I even managed to get done some digi layouts for my family album I am making so that was great!

My first Art journal entry!

Very happy with the final results of my first entry into my art journal. So happy i finally got it started! I have owned it for a few months now but was intimidated by it for some reason because i wanted it "just right". I finally realized there is never going to be a perfect time i am the person i am right now and that needs to be embraced/
The "artist" letters are none other than my guy Tim Holtz grunge board letters painted scruffed up and then a little pink copic marker to give them more texture and color.
The "within" was done with polymer clay and embossing letters and then i baked it for about 20 minutes and glazed it. Fun to finally use that had it forever!!
Must i really make this much mess when i work..no wonder my space never stays clean! When i finish at 12:30 am i am too tired to clean.

Okay great experience today at DB!! I even got 20 min before they opened, they told me 9am on the phone, so they let me shop anyway and i had like 8 associates helping me! Great staff there. I wandered the aisles as i helped my friend Sue in Fla. no less, in a diff store (Hobby lobby) with her almost exact same list crazy stuff we were on the DD (Donna Downey) hunt. LOVE my paints so want to play :( but the bane of my existence lies in those nib pens. DD does it with ease as she journals I guess i have alot of practicing to do and some you tubing instructions. Nonetheless it was a great day there can't wait to go back!!! Mind you they have kind of unofficially changed their name to Blick Arts..because you know why!! But its still Dick Blick to me!

Stuff i created on my scrap weekend

These tags made me very happy :) First is a photo transfer from ink jet transparency onto #8 tag. I applied Golden matte medium gel to the tag. I then printed a photo i took and reversed it in PSE 6.0. I then rubbed it onto the tag gently with a flat edge.

This tag i just lightened in PSE and printed it directly onto the tag through my printer(the secret there is print on paper first then use temporary stick tape on the tag over the printed paper and run through printer again) I use a "mistake" one for a bookmark ..think gift!

Trying to step outside that box... Loved painting these fabric layouts~felt like the artist was getting out!

So here I go into the blogmoshpere...(is that sorta a word??) I am doing this in part because I like to talk , no comment please! But truly the main reason is to hold myself accountable to create. Don't get me wrong, this is something I love to do but i don't do it nearly enough! Our lives get so busy that everything else comes first and I want to make a change this year...hopefully my followers (when i have them LOL) will be wanting more and hold me accountable to keep creating my true passion. I want to step outside that box. I have been a scrapbooker for 10 years but I really want to start thinking of myself as an artist, this is my passion. I messy scrap, digi scrap, try to paint things, love photography and want to delve into so much more! So here i go...
